Magna Cum Laude, Latin for “with high honors,” combines Montalcino’s historic Sangiovese Brunello clone with international grape varieties of Cabernet, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Magna Cum Laude flanks two other Castello Banfi proprietary cuvées bearing Latin names, SummuS “the highest,” and ExcelsuS, meaning “eminent.”

Winemaking
Each variety is vinified separately and aged 6-8 months to enhance its unique characteristics. The cuvée is then made and aged an additional 6-8 months. It is unfi ltered to preserve its unique character. At least 6 months of bottle rest follows.
